Thanks to your generosity, over 300 vulnerable Chicago children and families received critical access to health services, education, shelter, food, and life-saving care last year. On their behalf, thank you for making a difference in creating more possibilities for so many.
Just take a look at a young boy named Darron who joined us for our first Thrive Afterschool program this year. Darron had never been around anyone outside his nuclear family and was afraid to be around other kids and adults. Despite a rocky start, the Child Thrive team helped Darron build his self-esteem, comfort and confidence. His mother – a single, working mother who struggled to provide the care he needed during these important afterschool hours – recently told us how grateful and overjoyed she is to hear him ask whether he’s going to our afterschool program each day with so much glee and excitement. Darron’s progress was made possible thanks to the generosity of people like you.
Darren can’t say thanks, but we can! We are so grateful to have supporters like you making stories like these a possibility for vulnerable at-risk youth.
As we quickly approach the holiday season, our children and families need Children’s Place services even more. These families are already vulnerable on so many levels and during this moment of increased heating, food, housing and living costs, Children’s Place is being called upon to be not only a safety net but a springboard to many seeking to survive and thrive.
Today, we embark on a $25,000 year-end campaign – Building Pathways Forward – to raise urgently needed funds that will allow us to meet the dramatic rise in our children and families’ need for our care services by December 31.
Our Board of Directors has accepted the challenge of raising $10,000, but we still need the support of people like you. Today, we’re reaching out to you because you’ve already demonstrated your compassion for vulnerable children like Darron.
