We’d like to help your child and your family by providing the support for early learning and after school enrichment that is often unavailable for low-income families or for those children who face illness or disabilities. Children’s Place offers center-based and home-based early education initiatives as well as after school programs. These programs provide extremely vulnerable children with safety, specialized care, high-quality curriculum and supportive services. Nearly 200 children are served by these programs annually.

Our Services

We offer center-based and home-based early education complete with on-site health services and specialized care and curriculum customized to meet the needs of each child. Who we serve: low-income children, ages six weeks to five years old, whose families are challenged by various health conditions and disabilities.

Home visits advance parents’ skills as primary educators and promote the healthy growth of children from birth to three years old. This program is available to low-income families unable to access center-based care. We provide a variety of services: developmental and emotional screenings, monthly infant health checks by a registered nurse, nutrition assessments and life-skills education for parents.

We help families obtain emergency assistance, housing, medical care, and educational resources for children. We also provide individual and group counseling for children, parents and other family members as well as support groups for parents and teens along with our annual summer camp and many recreational and social events for our client families throughout the year. Who we serve: low-income families and those dealing with serious health conditions.

Our Foster Care program matches children with capable, loving foster parents who are trained by our organization to care for each child’s specific needs. For children unable to return to their birth families, we also facilitate adoption. Who we serve: children in need of foster care or adoption. The majority of foster children we serve also have special needs, including medical conditions and behavioral issues.

Child Thrive is a community-driven initiative providing after-school programs, youth mentoring, individual and group counseling and support groups, access to primary care and summer mini-camps. Who we serve: Low-income children, youth and families who live in West Humboldt Park.
