To receive mentoring opportunities with Children’s Place Association Leadership and Board of Directors, along with it being a roadmap to joining the Board of Directors or other crucial organizational committees.

Junior Board Origins
Established in 1998, the Junior Board empowers young professionals to champion our mission through fundraising, volunteering, and advocacy.

Comprising around 20 individuals aged 20 to 40 from diverse professions, they contribute their unique skills and passions to bolster Children’s Place Association’s programs.

Junior Board Timeline:

  • Term: July 1 to June 30.
  • Monthly Zoom meetings: 1st Tuesday, 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. (hybrid in-person/virtual options).
  • General members can join anytime during the year, with commitment until the end of the board year (June 30).

Junior Board Roles

President(s) – two-year term

Outreach Chairs (s) – two-year term

Event Chairs (s) – one-year term

Communications Chair(s) – one-year term.

General Board Member – one-year term.

*Roles may be continued after the term ends if board agrees.

Full Board Duties & Responsibilities

  • Be a CPA Ambassador: Promote our mission within your network professionally.
  • Stay Social: Engage on CPA’s social media platforms through likes, comments, and shares.
  • Timely Communication: Respond promptly to CPA and Junior Board messages.
  • Volunteer for at least one event annually. *See volunteer opportunities below.
  • Back the Leadership Team: Offer support to the Junior Board leadership. Assist in quarterly social, networking, or fundraising events.
  • Event Support: Contribute to the Annual Spring Celebration with sponsorship, donations, raffle items, and event tickets.
  • Fall Reception: Join the Junior Board Welcome Reception in the fall to connect with fellow members, the Board of Directors, and the CPA team.

Leadership Duties & Responsibilities

  • Network Engagement: Reach out to your connections to secure sponsorships and identify potential new Junior Board members who align with CPA’s mission.
  • Monthly Meeting Updates: Attend monthly meetings and provide updates on your designated responsibilities.
  • Annual Celebration Support: Contribute to our Annual Celebration by securing sponsorship and underwriting funds, as well as sourcing raffle items.
  • Collaborative Input: Offer input on CPA staff sponsorship packages.
  • Event Promotion: Attend and promote CPA events within your network.

Individual Leadership Duties & Responsibilities

President
(Two-Year Term)

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Junior Board.
  • Chair Junior Board meetings.
  • Collaborate with CPA staff on meeting agendas, and review/approve meeting minutes.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new Junior members.

Outreach Chair(s)
(Two-Year Term)

  • Help shape member recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Collaborate with Event Chairs on outreach and fundraising events.
  • Coordinate volunteer opportunities with CPA staff.
  • Foster communication among Junior Board members regarding outreach opportunities.

Event Chair(s)
(One-Year Term)

  • Spearhead quarterly Junior Board social, networking, or fundraising events.
  • Collaborate with Outreach, Communications Chairs, and fellow board members on event planning.

Communication Chair(s)
(One-Year Term)

  • Prepare monthly agendas with input from the President and CPA staff; distribute them before meetings.
  • Record meeting minutes, obtain approval from the President and CPA staff, and distribute them to the full board and CPA staff.
  • Collaborate with CPA staff to assist in crafting marketing copy for Board initiatives, including social media and event promotions.
